International Workshop on Traffic Measurements for Cybersecurity (WTMC) 2022
- Genoa, Italy
- Jun 06, 2022
Due to reasons such as massive expansion in the number of network users, continual emergence of network applications, a rising quantity of data exchanged, and diversity of user behaviors, current communication networks are becoming increasingly widespread, complicated, and ever-evolving. Understanding and evaluating traffic in such networks is a challenging but necessary task not just for network administration but also, more recently, for cybersecurity. For example, network traffic measurement and monitoring may aid in the study of malicious software distribution and capabilities, as well as the understanding of the nature of various network threats, such as those that exploit users’ behavior and other user’s sensitive information. On the other hand, network traffic analysis can assist assess the performance of existing countermeasures or contribute to the development of new, more effective ones. Recently, traffic measures have been used in the field of cybersecurity economics, for example, to assess ISP “badness” or to estimate cyber-criminal earnings.
The goal of this workshop is to bring together the research accomplishments of academic and industrial professionals. Another purpose is to present the most up-to-date research findings in the field of cybersecurity and to comprehend how traffic measurements might affect it. Prospective writers are encouraged to submit related noteworthy research articles on the topics of both theoretical approaches and practical case reviews. This session will highlight some of the most important ongoing cybersecurity research from the standpoint of traffic metrics.
Non-experts interested in learning more about this field as well as specialists interested in hearing about new research and ideas will be able to attend the session.
