International Cryptographic Module Conference (ICMC) 2022

During the same year that will witness significant shifts in the realm of commercial cryptography, the ICMC is planned to resume its live broadcasting. The much-awaited FIPS 140-3 standard will eventually become the only form of certification that is universally recognized for safe cryptographic modules. At the same time, the authorities in charge of regulating financial markets in Europe are pressing forward with the development of independent cryptographic standards. The number of people interested in open source software has significantly increased. And as the need for quantum-resistant algorithms continues to rise year after year, outdated systems are increasingly vulnerable to attack.

The International Cryptographic Module Conference will bring together hundreds of cryptographic specialists in response to these and other changes. The conference will take place in Washington, District of Columbia (ICMC22). At the conference, there will be a review of the recent developments concerning FIPS 140-3, a discussion on the impact on existing certifications, and a report on the present state of the Automated Cryptographic Validation Program. Participants will take a careful look at new certification standards that are emerging in Europe, as well as study the increased focus being placed on cryptographic certification by various schemes in China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and other countries. An overview of the open source cryptographic protocols that underpin the Internet as well as the cutting-edge post-quantum crypto work that will ensure the Internet’s continued safety will be presented over the course of three days.

The International Cryptography and Marking Conference (ICMC) is the most important yearly event for professionals all over the world to attend. A strong emphasis will be placed on standards such as FIPS 140-3, ISO/IEC 19790, eEIDAS, and Common Criteria during ICMC22. More than 400 industry leaders from 27 countries will come together to discuss the unique challenges that those who develop, produce, test, specify, and use cryptographic modules face. The conference contributes to the development of a user community that is more structured and focused. The ICMC investigates the technical issues that lie beneath the implementation of cryptography. These issues include physical security, key management, side-channel analysis, open-source development, algorithm testing, quantum threats, embedded applications, standardization, validation programs, government policy, and more.
